1979 CYLINDERS ON 1982 ENGINE

Post by sostaats »

What do I need to do to use a set of early model cylinders on a 1982 engine. I vaguely remember that some of the holes needed to be drilled out but it was about 20 years ago when I last gave this any thought. Now I've got a 82 smoker that I need to rebuild and parts for a early model. Thanks for any advise.

Yes, just enlarge the 4 holes in the center and the 2 on either end where the smaller studs are, on the early motor.

Howdy Steve! Where ya been? It's been too long since we got together.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

JR - isn't it just the four center studs? The outside two on each side are the same small ones, according to my memory and the parts book.

Yes, I stand corrected. Working from memory without the parts in front of me.

Enlarged the 4 center holes and it went right together. Thanks.
