Hi all
I was hoping that there is someone out there who has an 80x black and would be willing to take photos of the centre stand in situ. Need to see where all the pieces fit, in particular the crescent shaped metal piece. A couple of photos would be great. I have gone through the whole gallery and couldn't find anything.
Will be fitting the Stand I have this weekend-photos would help.

Thanks so much. Just another quick question, the spring I've got has a number of discs, like one cent pieces, slotted in at about every 4-5 coils. Can you think of any reason for this? Is removing them an option? Worst case scenario is I go to the hardware store and pick up a new spring.

The discs/washers/pennies are there to "stretch" the spring for ease of installation.
After you have it installed on bike use some needle nose pliers and yank them out.

Alternately, yank them out now, connect the spring to the centerstand, and install it with a mate on hand to insert the pin at the crucial moment. That's easier that wrestling the spring into place after the fact, even with a spring hook.

Genius! pre-extending the spring and then maintaining the required length by inserting coins worked perfectly, thank you very much!!

don't know why this appeared as new post. But anyways it was interesting to see that I have owned my CBX since 2015. Still loving it even though I don't ride as much as I would like to-it is such a pleasure to admire it and fire it up. Took it up the road yesterday and was absolutely chuffed.

Old mechanic thing from way back when car hoods were held open with springs. With an open hood, we would insert nails between the coils. Then, lower the hood slightly to catch the nails between the coils and easily remove the spring. Hold the nails in place, initially, with masking tape along the coils.

Long, long ago, in a land far away, (St.Clairesville, 1993ish) I helped a fellow rally attendee put the spring on his side stand. We bent the spring one way and inserted a bunch of coins. Bent the spring the opposite way and did the same. Put on the spring and used a pliers to yank the coins.

One fine improvise. [Coins also work as a good spacer in a frozen caliper taped to a fork leg to get home]
