What I meant was which "spring" did you use, stock or racetech?
Ahhh, I see. I used the Racetech springs. You pretty much have to if you're going to use their gold valves, or there'd be no room - the valve/adapter stack is about 2 inches tall and would preload the stock springs way too much if you put them in together.

This is how far I got,
Forks are disassembled, waiting on few parts that I ordered. I'm also waiting to hear from a friend that may have steering nut sockets so I can take it apart and at least clean and re-grease bearings, otherwise I may just have someone come over and do it as I don't feel like spending $100 for sockets i'll probably never use again.
I still was not able to identify fork springs. They are not Racetech as I spoke with them but they are 1" shorter then the stock ones and there was 1.25" of pvc spacer on the top.
Is it possible that they are stock and that they compressed 1" over the years?
Both wheels are off, cleaned and awaiting S11's which should arrive this Friday.
Can these brake rotors be turned?
I measured and they have plenty of meet on them just not sure if that's something that is done or even recommended on a motorcycle.

I'll mail you the steering head tool if you come up dry. Also have a dandy remover if you decide to swap them. How does the fork feel unweighted? Any notch or tendency to self center?

This guy Tom will make those rotors better than new. I know of no one else that can safely grind stainless rotors.

Look in vendor section, think I posted some pics, has done 10 or more for me by now. Perfect every time.

Count the coils on your springs, I'm sure there's a way to calculate spring rate by coil count and thickness. They do not look to be progressively wound to me in your photo which is neither good nor bad, but it rules out them being Progressive brand, which are common.

PM me your address if you want to borrow the steering head tools.

Hi Nils,

Thank you for the offer, I purchased one last night from Ebay and have just received email stating that he is out of town until end of next week. I'm waiting for his reply to see if there is someone else I can pick this up from otherwise, I may just use your offer.
I will contact guys at true disk and possibly mail them my rotors.
It is funny how everything on this bike takes a week to get parts and do anything on it. I guess I should do better planning on projects like these.
Seeing it in sitting in garage for this long and having such a beautiful weather is hard especially now that I know that I got it to run well!
Thank you very much!

Unweight fork seems fine, it does not feel as if it wants to self center, it feels light and smooth.
Tried to move it forward and backward and there is no movement at all.
I think it feels as it should.
I know that I should probably take it apart and inspect and repack with grease to say the least but i'm having second thoughts.

On one hand it will never be easier than now, on the other, if it ain't broke...

Greasing it is 5 min given how far apart the front end is now, re-torquing it has a bit of subtlety to get it right on the first try, will get into that if you decide to do it.

Or just google up "Mike Nixon shucking the shakes" and go buy yourself a spring scale like you'd use to weigh a fish.

Let me know on the socket, can have it in your hands by Mon easily.

Hi NIls,

I got the socket today but it is way too big for the tripple nut. I thought that bots nuts are the same size.
Manual only calls for one socket.
Does your socket fit both nuts?
I sent my brake rotors to the guys that you recommended.
Thanks

That top one is a lot less important, the one you bought likely fits the lower that torques the bearing. You still will be glad to own it, it fits a lot of Hondas. You will be very happy with Toms work, the rotors will look and perform better than new. Read the manual carefully on the subject of the two nuts and installation of the top bridge - it's not meant to bear down on the steering head. Pretty sure I have sockets for both, happy to send them, but you could get by on the top with a shock spanner IMO.

I spent way too much time :techie-typing: dealing with IT stuff this week that I didn't even realize that some things are simply just as said!
