Can a modern cb1100 (2014-17) fit cbx forks

Post by AshishNJ »

As the topic says, has anyone tried fitting a newer 2014+ front wheel and brakes into prolink forks ?

Ashish:

I have not done that exact conversion, so somebody else who has may have a more helpful response.
The only things I can throw out;
Whenever you do something that changes the front end geometry, you have to look at the rear end also. Otherwise you may create a real ill-handling motorcycle.
If you just want to install a CB1100 front wheel and brakes, you need to check and compare the fork spacing to make sure the wheel and rotors fit in. Also, the front axle must fit into the Prolink mounting spaces, or the Prolink axle into the wheel. You would definitely need hangers for the brake calipers as the Prolink calipers are unlikely to work with this set-up. Once everything fits, you need to address the cosmetics of having the fron fender sitting too high. designed for a 19" front wheel and you will probably be 17".
An easier alternative may be the installation of a complete CB1100 front end, which may only require changing the steering stem.
