Hi all, are 19t or larger front sprockets available for a Prolink?

JT doesn't list one but maybe if you contact them they can help you out.
Curious as to why?

Sprockets from a late model Triumph are the same spline and chain pitch will fit your Pro-Link but require custom made spacers for proper alignment.

Here's a photo (upside down so you can see the number) JTF 1180 - 19 from my Prolink.

A 20T sprocket probably won't clear, not enough room. The 19T is tight and may require some clearance.

You probably have more choices changing the rear sprocket. Also easier to change. Going from 42T down to 40T in the rear will achieve about the same as going from 18T to 19T in the front.

IMHO going lower than stock front and 40 rear you WILL notice the drop when moving from a stop -- especially with a load and/or positive grade. CBX first gear is more a 'track' ratio than a general purpose ratio. More noticeable in a pro-link.

Stock is 18/42. So, if you go lower in the front AND lower in the rear, you may not change anything. 18/42 = 1:2.33 17/40 = 1:2.35.
Whereas 19/42 = 1:2.21 and 18/40 = 1:2.22

The reasoning for me to go with a 19T primary was due to my limited choices of a rear sprocket with the VFR SSSA wheel.

The 19T brought my bike back to (about) where the stock ratios would be.

Is your VFR rear wheel a 18"???

No, 17" with a 170mm tire. Stock from '94 to '97 but had limited selection of rear sprockets due to clearance issues at the wheel.

That's interesting Tras about the Triumph sprocket having the same splines, and just out of interest how did you find out about that, and also on another note, when the sprocket bolt is tight is there still some movement on the sprocket ? Mine has, i expect it supposed to have to allow for allignment, but you would expect the flop to wear the splines cheers in advance cbxChris

A LOT of research on my part determined that the Triumph sprockets had the same spline size.

Spacers must be made and used to bring the Triumph sprocket to the thickness and alignment of the CBX output shaft to the particular wheel sprocket. I do this by using a laser. (Shown here on an 1100F).
