Best way to kill the "RR Susp Air Press" idiot light

Post by NobleHops »

This may be a knuckly question, but what has proven to be the best way to defeat the idiot light on the gauge bezel for the rear (Prolink) air shock? It would take me less than 10 minutes to simply remove the bulb in the bezel at this moment, and I might, but if there's any tidier way to do this, I'd like to know it. TIA for you thoughts.

Best,

Nils

Ground the wire at the shock (simulate the low air pressure switch activating). I think there is a ground and hot wire there. Change the ground spade to match the hot terminal connection and plug them together. Been a while - that's what I remember. Have you had the '82 out yet?

Thanks as always Dave. No, haven't had it out, we paused for a few weeks while I fiddled with the gauges and we finished a couple of customer bikes, but we are in fact about to go install the fairing and tank, and so I think I will be Prolink'in this week!

Hey Nils!

When I put my Progressive rear shock in, I simply took that bulb out of the cluster. Electrics and wires are not one of my favorite things!

Easiest is to just ground the wire.

Side note: I see the module under the right side cover (obviously not present on a twin-shock), and we also note that the idiot light lights when first energized, and then after 4 seconds it goes out.

Normal behavior?

Yep! How mine does it, Nils. Never bothered to determine why. Did the same when it had the air shock.

Well there is a module there under the right cover, I'm guessing it is more or less an op check for the idiot light before it goes into functional mode. Thanks Larry! I left the bulb in there and did as Dave suggested, and for some reason that appeals to me :-).
