Delkevic or CMSNL / David Silver Spare muffler

Well guys

I noticed a few small holes in the pipes of my 1980 CBX that I recently acquired. I tried two separate places to see about getting them fixed rather than just putting on a replacement set and have had no luck. No one wants to do the job or are willing to do it.

So

I have done some research and it seems as though I can buy one of the two aftermarket systems. I would like to keep it stock looking and sounding.

1. Delkevic 6 into 2

2. CMSNL pipes also sold by DSS

Do you have an opinion on which system is better in regards to quality, fit, finish, sound like the originals

Both systems are roughly the same price within a few hundred dollars depending on shipping.

Let me know your thoughts about these systems.

If you know of another system that is available that is a replica of the original pipes please let me know

Thanks

Ps. It is too bad these are all one piece muffler systems as the only part of mine that actually requires replacing is the back muffler end. The other sections are perfect. If only I could buy something that looks exactly like the original muffler that I could put on the back section of the pipes.

If there are holes in the muffler section can these be fixed

It is such a shame that all the front sections are lovely

Here are a few pictures of the holes

Let me know if this can be repaired and how to do it please.

That's a shame - they usually don't rust there, they rust at the lowest point near the heat shield clamp, where they can be patched with a riveted stainless patch. Anything you try to patch those holes with will obviously show. I think you are stuck with a reproduction, which is fine.

Thanks Dave

Now for the big decision. Should I buy the Delkevic or the CMSNL pipes

Which would you get

The CMSNL, if they prove to be as good as the first generation was. I've fitted several sets of Delkevics and several sets of the first Sankei reproductions and the Sankei were a better fit, finish and the most faithful reproduction. I have not seen the second generation of those yet, however.

Unfortunately, they are not as good as the first generation!

They are still good - on a par with the Delkevics. First gen "Sankei replicas" were way better.
