Alternator Rotor

I have been talking to an R/R manufacturer 'tech' and have received some information I would like to confirm.
Does anyone have a 'BRAND NEW' Rotor -NOT- installed?
If they do:
Could you please measure across the Copper Slip Rings with a Digital Voltmeter and see what resistance you have.
According to the man., you should see no less than 4 ohms and no more than 5 ohms (4.8 ideal).
According to the TM, the spec is 3.5 - 4.8 ohms.
When I told him that, he said the TM is wrong and all Rotors today are wound to the 4-5 spec so the R/R's will all work correctly.
If the Rotor is below 4 ohms, it will draw too much current and shut the R/R down.
So, I would like to have some feedback from some of you who have NEW Rotors and can check them for me.
