Building a rack for CR's

Post by jkotsi »

I haven't had any luck finding a set (2 or4) of used 31mm CR's so I'll be buying a pair from Sudco.

Does anyone know the recommended jets/needles/clip height for CR's?

79 intake cam, 6-2 header, Dyna ignition, V-stacks, otherwise stock.

Cheers Jim

Looking at what others have built there is a choice, either follow Honda's layout and use same size carb boots and angled rack or assemble a straight bank of carbs and use 3 different sized boots.

Talked to Bill at TIMS yesterday, he can provided the 3 size boots, the spigot will need to be sized to fit.

Alternately I will need to find straight boots and the rack will follow the stock angle. Varying the lenght of velocity stacks should even up the intakes.

Is there a preferred layout? Would you expect to see any difference in performance?

The main problem with the angled set-up for CR carbs will be the throttle linkage. All that I have seen were done in a straight line with different boots.

Didn't correct for the unequal intakes but it shows the idea.

They look great, not my work but one version I am considering.

This is the other layout. An easier build but more money for the carb boots and matching spigots.

Interesting set-up! Reminds me of the old XKE Downdraft SU carbs...

r48, you gotta give us a bit more info on your bike than just a pic of the new carbs. Please!

Very nice set of flat sides. Uniform boots and stacks, are you planning on changing he stacks to match the intake lengths?
