air horn removal

Post by cshores »

i removed the stock plastic inlet cover to the stock air cleaner on my 79 cbx. it sounds better than before. does anyone know if you get a horsepower increase by removing the cover with the stock exhaust ?. it looks like the actual; nozzle area is restrictive on it, i imagine the main function was to reduce noise.

Air Box Cover

My experience was that it leaned out the mixture and keeps the motor from reving up to redline.

Cheers, Tom

I forget the details, but this is discussed several times - have a look through the Carb posts.
I don't have a solution, but I admire your problem.
