I need to sync my carbs

Post by zalle »

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well.

My 1979Z needs some carb syncing! Rattling clutch and now a bit rough in low revs. I'm in Portugal, so please don't tell me to go somewhere thousands of miles away.

I have a question, does the engine need to be tilted? It doesn't, does it?

My other question: Are these gauges any good? Would you recommend others?

Thanks

The engine does not need to be tilted for a carb synch.
Can't comment on the gauges you listed but many here use a Carbtune setup.

Even with the carbs synched you could have a noisy clutch that needs the damping rubbers replaced.

+1 on the carbtune gear. Buy it once, buy it right. Very happy with mine.

We use the Morgan stuff too, very happy with it. The threaded brass rods for the sync ports are nifty, we bought additional as they fit the drain ports of many Mikuni carbs for clear-tube measuring the fuel levels. Great product.

Hi Steve, I have damping rubbers from sixcenter, I also replaced the springs (with heavy duty ones, I guess).

I will buy the carbtune kit, I'm trying to understand if I just buy the kit or if I need something else. Do I need any extra brass adapters?

By the way guys, I sold my pristine BMW K1100LT yesterday, but I'll never sell my beautiful CBX!!! I own it for 26 years now!!!!

Thanks!!!

I'm ordering the carbtune, they will send me the extra parts for the CBX with no extra price.

Cool

Glad to hear it. They did the same for me years ago.
An extra set with two short and two long 5mm adapters.

I did not sync them myself. My mechanic is doing it with the carbtune.
It's in his garage right now being serviced.

The digi sync has plugs along with vacuum caps on their web site that can be used or you can get long brass ones from motion pro.

I actually haven't gotten around to sync my CBX carbs yet but did my triumph tripple and several Honda Valkyries both of which have sync tubes on them.
I'll be leaving these adapters on my CBX when i use them first time.

Thanks. How do you reach these adaptors and connect the hose next time you have to synch? Aren’t they small to reach ?

Long needle nose pliers i would presume. It should be easier to attach hose than screw even copper adapters each time
