fuel petcock rebuild part possibility

Post by Guest »

For the record, from Mike Nixon and the 1100f board,

"These petcocks are rebuildable, with a little ingenuity. You drill the rivets out and replace them with either 3mm or 4mm screws (after tapping, naturally). The sealing wafer is available as a part from an older model Honda. "

JT-"The part is from a 60's CB77 Superhawk, # 16955 268 020 "Valve Gasket". I've used one in my 79CBX, so far so good . I found a SS buttonhead screw at Home depot, 3mmx5mm I believe. They also had a drill bit kit with the tap. I have also heard people use a self tapping screw, but the SS buttonhead is clean looking."

I've ordered the part and will see how it goes. $4.07 cdn. "packing"
