What are a set of carbs for a 1980 worth?

Post by YVRCBX »

Carbs are presently on the bike, look completely stock and unmolested. ….but they are gummed up and won't run. I'm assuming in need of a complete overhaul. Off a very low mileage (13K km's) bike that has sat for a while. My plan is to resto - mod anyway, using new aftermarket carbs and a 6 into one. So, debating whether or not to just sell these to help fund the project. What is a fair price for them? I'd have the air box and lid to go with them I suppose.
Thanks

I would think somewhere around $400 USD would be a fair price for a set of complete carbs needing a complete rebuild.

$400 is a pretty good starting price, I think too.

Mmmmm, thanks for that. Doesn't put much of a dent in the price of new ones! Better to stash all the original parts away, me thinks.

Unless you are prepared for a lot of jetting headaches and poor low-speed engine performance, terribly stiff throttle return springs, generally bad street manners, IMHO money would be better spent rebuilding the stock carbs and enjoying your CBX as it was intended. But if max HP is your goal, go for it!!
