Summer is soon here and I can put carbs back on the bike. Hope everything goes well.

One thing is funny. I could not leave any feedback on Ebay to Steve about the carb restoration...

Hello Martin,

There has been a lot of confusion, you did not purchase the carb rebuild through Ebay you did it via my web site/email.

Hope you are back on your CBX soon! 8)

At least a warm day. So I put my rebuild VB61 carbs on the bike and let the fuel flow in. The fuel run out from the carb nr5 and nr6. I was a little bit :o
"I had a five o'clock tea" and game back after 15 min....

7830
The carb nr5 is okey now but nr6 is leaking still. I waited a couple of minutes but it still run out.

7831
So I did take my screwdriver and had to see inside the carb what happens there.

The answer is that the float sat fast upside of the carb. I moved the float up and down and it slides smooth now. Maybe there was some rest of normal fuel since rebuilding by Steve. The Normal fuel will make very small crystals and it is like glue after couple of weeks. It would be a good ide to use a four stroke fuel of lawn mover as final thing before shipping.

Under one day I changed my spare carbs VB62 to the original VB61 carb. And everything was ready to test drive. Thank you Steve for rebuilding of my VB61 carbs! The bike runs good and it feels just fine as my spare carbs (VB62) which was rebuild by Mike Nixon (USA).

Glad you are sorted Martin, that fuel is only good for three months shelf life. I recommend fuelling the carbs hanging over your bench prior to fitting as it saves a lot of inconvenience, lucky it was #6 that was stuck for easy access.

Have a good summer on your bikes.

Steve

That is a good point to write on your instruction paper. It is important when shipping in November/December to a cold country. Or you can test the carbs with fuel for four stroke lawn mover, Alkylate gasoline, not a normal fuel.

Just a note - carbs that have been shipped/jostled around always stand a chance of having a float needle stick. Not unusual at all.

Agreed Dave, there was little opportunity for them to travel upside down prior to now. :-)

Been using Aspen in my garden machinery and on carbs for a couple of years now but it still leaves some residue.

Everything went well under 2020 and 2021 with Steve's rebuild carbs, thank you! No needed open carbs or do nothing except put Neste Pro 4T casoline (used in lawnmowers) and the bike starts well after winter time in a garage.
