What purpose does the Air Cut Off Valve serve on a 1979 CBX1000?
At what part of the throttle opening / rev range does the valve operate in?
Does it alter the fuel / air mixture?
Why only on one carb?
I never come across such a device before.

Re: Air Cut Off Valve function
Honda used them on many bikes of this era, only each carb had one. The CBX has one valve but it is connected to all the carbs through the upper front passageway. It's function is to prevent a lean backfire upon suddenly chopping the throttle on deceleration by enriching the mixture. CV carbs are prone to this without such a feature.
