Post by Lc99g »

Hi guys,

Is there anyone out there thinking of selling their cbx ? Preferably a 79/80 twin shock.

Cheers Stan.

Bike home yesterday with one disappointment. I hate the side stand the way its sprung to return from the fully down position, ie it won’t stay down when fully down. Otherwise all good really.

Welcome to CBX ownership!

For the side stand, that's not standard - they don't automatically retract. For German markets, they have two springs fitted on the side stand - that may be enough to make it retract. In which case switch to the standard single spring.

Thank you Jn. I’ll try and get a photo on here, it’s a German bike and has one spring but that spring is in such a way that even with the stand fully down and forward it still pulls the stand back. I did wonder if it was missing a spring that would hold it forward when down. Bloody dangerous as is for an old git lol.

I feel that if that pin wasn’t there it would work more the way I want it to but the pin looks like it’s been there for a long time !

To convert back to normal side stand operation you need:
- standard spring
- standard mounting bolt.

See the following:

https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbx1000-sup ... RaxL_KSkuU

You need parts 11 and 17 in the diagram.

I did look at that diagram before Jn, looking at it again though I’m just wondering if the bolt is in the wrong way round ie the pin end should be on the inside, not the outside as it is on mine. I’ll have a look later today, thanks.

Thank you for your good wishes Steve.

Nope I’m wrong again lol. Looking at the bolt in the diagram again , what I thought was the pin end is actually the threaded end for the nut.
