Was able to get a measure of the bottom of the piston skirt 2.585, looks like .050 over stock , not sure 65 mm or 65.5 mm

That's a little bit more than 65.5mm
1mm over bore.
Best,
Phil

Re: 79 Dragbike resto
Doing the conversion that would be 65.659 mm, who knows what kits were around in the early 1980's i see 65 mm and 65.5 mm kits floating around on Ebay, but no Ebay back in the day Plastigauged the rods they are nice ! Prolly good for me first gear was not holding, Motor had very few runs , noticed Oil pressure was real good before i pulled the trans. Seals and gaskets are coming this week from Louis CBX parts , Seals on the Primary chain tension-er feel hard replacing them also, Found the lock nut on the primary shaft was finger loose and actually rubbing the back of the clutch basket, Glad to be sorting all the issues out before bad things happened

I have way too much fun on my GL, my purge valve is aimed to blow the hat off the fella on his bike next to me at a stop light if he is making too much noise, hahahaha

That thing is ridiculous! I mean seriously ridiculous. I have fun on my Valk, too, but not THAT much fun. Viking pipes? That's what I'm running. Best header/pipe ever made for the Valk.
Now about that CBX...You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: 79 Dragbike resto
Thanks it was necessary to crack it open, Wish the PO would have said something about first gear jumping out , I would have still brought it home , But pulling the motor out 2 times was the pisser, Should have it buttoned up this weekend, Was relieved to see the bottom end was done right and checked out ok , Late model complete Transmission dropped right in , And of coarse i put the Shift fork shaft in backwards when i checked for 5th. damn Shop manual anyway !
