CBX project
Here's my CBX project, bought it as you see in the pic below, looking to upgrade and change a few things on it including seat unit and front brake!

Re: CBX project
Hi Steve! Welcome to the ICOA forum. Heavy custom Euro streetfighter you have there!
Probably difficult to do anything different around the seat unless you decide to redo the whole rear end.
What happened to the front brake?? The six piston caliper you have there looks pretty good. Doesn't the fork allow you to hang a right side caliper also? Where is the front end out of?

Re: CBX project
Thansk EMS, yes the r/h leg does allow a second caliper to be fitted just the previous owner didn't add this! I will however be utilising twin discs and calipers for better braking :) the original front end didn't come with the bike it came as you see it in the pic :)EMS wrote:Hi Steve! Re: CBX project
Lowered the rear suspension somewhat the other day as the jacked up look is just not me! apart from that it was throwing all the weight forward onto the front end, next job will be to lift the front end slightly then I can decide what to do re the subframe :)

Re: CBX project
Decided to start work on subframe yesterday, chopped the old "euro style stuck up in the air subframe" off that someone had made and fitted
Started making the new rails for subframe and slowly but surely dropping the seat into the right position
Final position should be something like this

Bike was originally built by a friend and had the mods already done but here's whats on it from what I can see:
Swingarm, linkage, rear wheel and brake from Hayabusa
Forks and yokes GSXR1100 or maybe TL1000??
Front wheel GSXr (early type with speedo drive)
Rearsets again GSXR 750 or 1100??
Some of this will be changing to my own personal taste though :)

Re: CBX project
Did some work on the subframe over the weekend, tried the stock seat back on and also tried the seat unit that it came with on, must say the seat unit it came with is growing on me now it's been positioned properly and not sat with it's arse in the air so to speak :)

Hey Steve, the seat angle looks much better now IMO, have you thought about maybe getting a rear wheel hugger, it would fill the space between the seat and tire and you could keep your paint sceme going and have something going on in the back half of the bike since the twin shocks are gone.
Here's one,

Yeah, that looks a lot better to my eye too. Seems like that is/was a fad with Euro customs? Tail raised waaaay high in the air? Looks goofy and unrideable to me, I like your current height just right.
I like the hugger idea too, other than adding a little visual appeal to fill that space, it'll be practical to keep road stuff off you and the bike.
Great progress!

I think this is still going on! "Streetfighter" customizing is alive and well in Germany. I see these abonimations all the time...

Re: CBX project
Yup real 'Euro' look to the mods, as you got it.
Honestly, I can't understand why anyone would modify a noble mount like a CBX
I like where you are taking this back to though.
Are those pipes crazy loud?
