Thanks Steve👍

Is it the valve cover thats not your style?

I am doing my carbs now, i have come this far:

Edit: som pic are turned 90, all pictures have the same ”angle” on my phone, i dont get why the pics get turned?? When i enlarge the pics they come up at the ”right” angle?

D68756E1-8A33-4D1B-8E41-F287C61F4C15.jpeg
I 3d printed new throttle linkage rubbers, and they have a tight fit. But then i read a post from Dave that you got to have good linkage rubbers for the carbs to sync. Should i go with randakks rubbers just to be sure? Anyone have a suggestion?

All but one standpipe was good on the carbs.

This one is cracked:
AFD5CEA9-AA27-4553-9E5E-189EEB6EB935.jpeg
I tried to solder it but no succes there. Instead i replaced it, had to drill out the last bit of pipe that stuck down in the hole.

I googled and found a guide ( i think it was at oldschool carbs)

I drilled out the pipe with a 3,5 mm drill, ordered a 3,5 mm brass pipe. Put the pipe in the lathe and pushed the brass against a hollowed out rod to get the hole in the pipe smaller.

Here is the result:
5F63C656-4C69-4F60-8F69-2F8F8B42C38E.jpeg
Now to get the pipe to have a good fit i took a smaller rod and pushed it in to the end of the brass pipe to enlarge the brass. Some oil and it worked easy.

After:

Cleaned up the end of my new standpipe and pushed it it with the help of a drill (not spinning:)

And last i pressured tested it and it holds.

Amazing, Marten.

My reference to "not my style" is a positive.
I don't have the skills or the patience to go into such detail on my bikes.

More progress.

After polishing and wetsanding.
F6BDC316-0380-4650-8DDD-9097A35D7AA0.jpeg
I used Meguiars cleaner wax on the black painted areas and wetsanded the rest. New sprocket and seals. Bearing were fine.

The brake side before:

And after:

I have realised that you come a long way with a steel/brass brush on tired looking bolts. Its much faster than to replate them:)

I must say that you may regret not re-plating the hardware. Just clean-up with wire brushes will leave bare metal that will rust. Otherwise - great job!

Got some more work. Installed the alternator and starter.

Read Nils guide on Restocycles fb site when i installed them. Very good info there👍
56EE13BE-9CC6-476D-BAC8-BC895F019295.jpeg
Got to give the alternator cover i last polish when all is done. Only the center part of the starter is repainted, not perfect but i am happy anyway.

You can also see the powdercoated linkage wich i think came out sweet. I turned new bronze bushings in the lathe and installed new rods.
F80AAA1D-D073-4B25-9197-E7D903C6995E.jpeg
Also installed complete clutch, discs and springs were well into spec. Discs were in oil for a looong time before i installed them.
Springs were marked with yellow on one side??
63E81669-0CF6-40FF-81C9-138CC61BB8EA.jpeg
Also installed ignition stator (??) after i watched Nils tutorial. Was lots of junk in it.
D61CA215-1298-44D9-8D51-8C1D64A202A1.jpeg
When i installed the cases i read a tip from Dave to install clutch cover to se if timing chain was right. I did just that. Crank is now at F mark. So this should be right…
B6BCFDED-12F0-4F13-BC8F-35B1B0CC6904.jpeg
Need a new contact for timing unit. Any ideas wich one to use and were to get one?

Carbs are almost there, when i leaktested them the oring at the accelaration pump failed. Sixcenter sent me one, and now the pump works.

Rearwheel is off. Got some plating to do😉

Your alternator looks like it is a small output version from a Euro spec 1979 with magnesium cover. Polishing will not hold up. You will have to thoroughly clear coat it. The photo may be deceiving and it may not be.

Its deceiving, its an alucover.

Talking about alternator, i installed new connectors today.

Old one:
C1E9D013-E6FD-4B16-B5A3-0EC3A3118F3F.jpeg
My first plan whas to keep the old contacts (but they didt fit to the new connectors) And i read that its pretty common that the contacts gets bad and toasted.

This looks kind of alright at first glance:
6602006F-4198-4D0D-9069-0328E0120F77.png
And this is how the connection really looked liked. Two of the yellow cable connections looked like this:
E17D1AD0-6193-4F41-BB07-3650328B7692.jpeg
I mangled the first contact but recrimped it.

This is the end result:

8FEB84FF-3F89-440F-8DC6-EE716A99E61B.jpeg
And here is the alternator side:

64E5BC1B-5B36-40BD-9E96-0BE79579B1F1.jpeg
Connectors were ordered from https://www.auto-click.co.uk/6098-0218

Not original but i take it.

Original shock is still there but i am going to replace it and the tires before she hits the road.

I am about to move so will not be able to work on the bike for a couple weeks. Please comment if you see something i should replace or do another way.

Longer post will come about the progress and hicups.
