Overdue update:

Moved back to Atlanta in March after almost a decade in AK. Thrilled to be warm and doing what I love for more of the year.

Brake calipers were rebuilt over the summer:







Dyno day at Atlanta Motorcycle Works today. They have an excellent facility and some extremely knowledgeable folks on staff. 71 degrees a week before Thanksgiving. I'm still just adjusting to doing what I love this far into the year again.

This 42 year old motor with mostly untouched carbs and the valve cover never opened made 95 hp at the tire. I'm thrilled with how strong this motor is before I do carb work and now I have a baseline. This sat in a connex trailer in Alaska for 30 years not doing anything. You never know what’s hidden away for no reason.

Given those circumstances 95hp is excellent.

I'd say a charitable dyno, at least compared to the tester's dynos back in the day. Mid-upper '80s was what the stock '79 produced, '81 just slightly lower, right at 85. The DG did not give you 10 hp, FWIW. In any case, cool to have been able to run it on the dyno and the bike is certainly no slouch!

I’m not saying the exhaust gave me anything. I’m just saying what the dyno number was. Picture of the screen on a sunny day is hard to read but here it is:

Single 8" H4 headlight on with no fairing and now the exterior look I’m going for is complete.





Now the harder stuff comes: oil cooler line replacement, wiring harness repair, etc but until that comes it finally looks cooler (to me at least) in the garage.

I am curious how you did with all the cables behind the headlight. Did you have room to get them in to your headlight or did you snaked them around the tubes?

The amount of cables is massive

I got a 82 and am also planning to use a 8” headlight like you.
