Carbs back together with no more leaks, or sticking float valves, and the accelerator pump is working good too.
Bike fired up very easy, and is now running more evenly on all the cylinders....plugs all look great..... (all running time inside garage)
While running it this time, I found a new problem....the throwout bearing, or pressure plate bearing is making some noise.
Looks like I have to drain the oil, and pull the clutch cover off.... :no
Hopefully my alternator will show up when I get my clutch put back together....then I can try to get my carbs synced.... probably have snow by then though (no road test till April probably) :violin:

And I just now realized that the gasket for the clutch is no longer available.....Why.... :sad-roulette:

TIMS has just about all the engine gaskets available separately. Yes, Honda is running out of even wear parts like gaskets and seals for the CBX, but diligent searching here and overseas will turn up everything. Bill at TIMS, Louis, David Silver, Six Center and others.

Why do you think the clutch bearing is bad? Never saw one fail, but have heard hundreds of noisy '79 clutch baskets. Don't think the bearing is your problem.

Great news on the carbs!

I pulled the cable off, and the noise stopped...I pulled up on the lever on the housing and could then hear it, and feel it in the lever.
I had taped the hand lever to the handlebar grip, while trying to get the bike first running (wired in a clutch saftey from the F3 controls...). I'm guessing the constant pressure on the bearing, with no oil to it for years...then firing it up, might have hurt it that way..........?

My girlfriend just gave me one of my Christmas presents today....

A pair of the best tires Bridgestone has created yet....!!!! The RS10
These things will wear holes in my pipes and crank covers for sure...

The Michelin High Sports on the bike now were the top choice in the 90's, but not safe in my mind at their age now... I might still have some rubber soft enough to do a good smoky burnout though...

Well.....she did ask for a list....

I'll probably get some pics of it in action on a dyno....but it's a pretty big beast for track days.
Planning on a few next year on my RS250, that's been collecting dust for too long.
If I survive that I might take it to the track, where someone there might get a pic or two.... :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Merry Christmas to all.............

Just back from Corpus Christie long enough to pick this up from post office, before I head to Niagara Falls.
Well... It won't be done before New Years.... But I'll have my clutch parts by the time I'm back...

Finally had time today to swap out the alternator and test it.
The cheap silver paint that was sprayed on it, was smudging with oil and gas on my hands.
So I pulled it apart and soda blasted the housing, and polished it up just a bit.
Pulled my old parts off and plugged in the new wires with ease. Put some gas in the carbs and fired right up...
And it was charging.....!!!!
One more issue out of the way....now I need to get clutch straightened out and tires on... Then pray for a short winter.

Yellow plug wires? Where did you get yellow plug wires?
All I can find is blue, orange, black and red but not yellow in 8mm.
Plus, Is that a NOS bottle hiding in there? :-)
OH I know, its part of the foot activated air pump for maintaining tire pressure. :D
Just kidding. Although, a NOS sticker on that air shifter bottle will fool a lot of people.

Mouse, Accel makes an 8mm yellow plug wire.
I think Canadian Tire may even carry them. If not any hot rod car shop should be able to get them.

Accel like Steve mentioned or from Taylor http://www.taylorvertex.com/spark-plugs ... wire-sets/ that's where I found my orange wire set.

Next time you come down from those mountains and back to civilization you may find them in stock at Mopac Auto Supply on 16th ave N/W...

Pulled clutch apart today and found my issues that I had suspected.
Bearing does not roll perfectly smooth with side load pressure...and I also noticed that my heavy duty springs are rubbing/digging in the posts that hold them in. Coils are catching and leave an notchy/dragging feel.
Need to slightly grind inside of the coils to get better clearance.
