Cylinder head bolted on, and ready for the next challenge of timing the cams, and setting up the shims. When I got the head, all the buckets and shims were in the bottom of the box, so I had to start from zero.... :(
Also put a bigger 81 oil cooler on

All in, all valves set to spec....ready to get covered up

Yea, I put the oil dams in after the pic...

Rotated engine back and bolted up all the mounts, after I got the cover on.

Put the exhaust back on....

And now we are up to speed to today....waiting on my new carb manifolds....
Thought the old ones were good, till I tried getting them off the other head that was originally on the bike,

Now I need to get carbs cleaned up a bit and try to figure out if the stage 3 dynojet kit thats in them will work, or where I will need to go with jetting..

Open for suggestions here.... :text-feedback:
1147 pistons/stage 3 dynojet/K+N filters/Dyna ignition/Supertrap exhaust...

Not a fan of Stage 3 kits, but if you did OK before with it, whenever that was, try it. 'Cleaning the carbs a little' might be the key. Have you separated them and totally rebuilt them, or are you going to try them as is? O-rings, if original, will likely give you trouble. Don't waste all your good work with carbs half done.

I'd recognize those Raask rearsets anywhere.
What a terrific build thread. Love the early story as much as the current edition.

cbxextreeme is also chronicling a hot rod GS1000 build over at www.thegsresources.com
Lots of talent here.

:text-thankyouyellow: Your bikes are beauties as well, which takes commitment to keep them all running

I have a sonic cleaner big enough for the whole rack, so that's where they will go...pretty clean with new gaskets and so on from trying to get it running a few years ago
It pulled 93 HP when I took it to a dyno, right after I got it running back in the 90's. Which I thought was good at the time from a stock motor with filters and header...?
But like I said, I've been out of the loop as far as CBX's go for quite a while....I'm sure there are some new tricks to bring that HP up more now.
I've got too much time in it to go half way now

Supposedly, the studs snap during heat cycles. I never ran a smooth stud motor, can't tell for sure...What I want to know though, does that thing you show in the first picture have a vertical bar through the rear window???

It was a 1965 with it's original 365HP 327, M21 4 speed. 4.11 rear, Knock off's and side pipes....
Bought it for $6000 back in 85...put some time and $$$ into it, and drove it for a few years. One day I was coming back from a show in Indy and my rear wheel, just about fell off. Was scared of the knock offs from that point on, and only used it around town. Long gone now, as I hardly ever even looked at it...thought it would have a better chance of a fully restored life with someone else... I also had a first month production 68 two top roadster, with a 435HP 427, M21, F41, K66, PT6, G81 3.70 posi...triple black.....
yea, also had :sad-roulette:

Well, you've had me drooling on my keyboard until the pic of the tail lights popped up. :o

But, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things. :D I really like the decals instead of the badge on the tank.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

same here...I'm very surprised at how good the decals look, something I'll keep in mind if I locate a 2nd tank with no badges..
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage

Tail lights..... I know they are not typical
This bike had no tail lights, turn signals, rear fender inner or outer (rear license plate section), only a seat base and a busted up tail piece.
Since I personally think the original tail light, has the same character as one from my Jeep Wrangler...I saw no point in using any factory parts. (this was before Ebay became what it is today...or craigslist, for parts) And I already had a 85% original CBX to ride.
As a kid I read my dads old Car Craft, Hot Rod and so on....(late 50's early 60's issues)....and thought it was cool how guys would take various parts from one car and graft them to another. And tail lights were a big thing that got attention back then.... So it was just natural for me, since I was swapping on so many other non original parts
I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....at least I got rid of the purple paint.

They look pretty cool at night.....

Hope to have the carb manifolds by Friday....
Will get these opened, and cleaned up a bit more over the weekend I think....Then get them bolted on and see if I can get some fire in the cylinder.
