All work on my bike has stopped !

Post by zxbob »

At least for the next few weeks . . . . . . .

Have any of you guys ever had a hernia ?

Well just to let you know when I do sumpthin - I do it rite ! !

It seems I gave myself 3 of them. Two are in my lower abdomin and one just above the
belly button. The two in the abs are new, thats what got me to the doctor. The one above
the belly button i've had for a while, I just was'nt sure what the lump was. I think im gonna
have surgury the week of 8-8-10 . . . I dont know for sure. (waiting on the insurance co.)

Im ready to reinstall the motor but I dont want to screw around with this. (it hurts)
Guess I can still piddle around with the small stuff for now but thats it. Oh well, guess
i'll have time for more senseless posts for the next couple of weeks.

Tough luck, Bob.
No lifting during the rehab as well.
I'd be willing to wager EVERYTHING on your bike will be very shiny by the time this is all finished.

Sorry to hear about the hernias, Bob. I'm just coming off eye surgery that caused me much more grief than a simple cataract should. In the meantime I collected some rebuild kits for the brakes and forks. My current dilemma, other than a lack of mechanical ability, is my tiny garage. Already cluttered with three bikes, it just inherited two more. My daughter and her husband, both army pilots, are heading back to Iraq. And they dropped off a 2005 GSX600 and a 1961 Harley for me to babysit for the next year. I would post a picture if I knew how to do that. I'm a technological idiot also. Good luck with the upcoming operation. My CBX, a 1979, is currently running pretty well. I run it to work a couple times a week. Leaking forks, a slight drip at the front brake caliper, and an annoying stutter in the 3800-4000RPM area are the main complaints. Cosmetically, it needs attention, but have yet to decide where to start. I do love riding it though. I planned on replacing my 16 year old BMW with a new one before retirement (hopefully in 2 or 3 years), but am now leaning toward a restoration of the CBX instead. It will probably cost slightly less than a new BMW.

Crap, that sucks Bob. I'm sure if you just need help horsing the engine in it could be conjured, but perhaps that might make it too tempting to push your luck and do other stuff. Sorry you're temporarily on the bench. Hope you heal well and fast.

Hiya Jack, and welcome to the site!

EMS did a nice tutorial that you'll find in the general chat on how to post pictures, it's not too tough. If you can rebuild a brake caliper I'd judge this well within your capabilities :P

You'll find a good accounting of my thrashing with rebuilding and bleeding the early model brakes in the 'Brakes' forum, hopefully useful and possibly entertaining too. Again, welcome!

No doubt i'll get better. The doc says im in pretty good shape so healing time should be minimum.

I'll allways have that "be carefull, I dont want to do this again" in the back of my mind. Im 48 this
month - not 28 . . . . . guess I should treat my body with a little more care !

Well I found out I won't get my surgery till the 18th - bummer !

It will just take longer to finish thing up on the X.
At least I'm not at a complete stop, Nils sent me
me the socket I needed to do my clutch and there
is still some polishing of parts to do as well as my
Allen bolt kit. I'm sure I'll be able to keep busy on
the small stuff !

Just a quick little update !

Finally feel up to posting - here was a 2 hour proceedure that landed me in
the hospital for 4 days. The OR nurse damaged my bladder when installing a
cathader. I ended up being taken from the surgery center via ambulance to
to the hospital ER, then admitted for a 4 day stay. I'm finally home but I still
have the cathader in place untill my bladder heals. The hernia portion of the
surgery is healing well and feels pretty good !
I go back to the doctor end of the week and they'll check me out hopefully
removing the cathader. At least I'm on the road to recovery now but what a of screwups these guys were !

Sounds like me working on the bike. The problem gets fixed but i can usually screw something up getting the job done.
Maybe they were using SAE instead of metric tools on you Bob.
Get well soon.

Ha, and here I thought it was your idea! The wascally wabbit invented it:
"Maroon"

A term of derision often uttered by Bugs Bunny when referring to an interaction with a dopey adversary. It is a mispronunciation of the word "Moron"
"What a Maroon!" "Will ya get a load of this maroon"
