Purchased new by legendary stuntman and performer Evel Knievel himself, this 1979 Honda CBX is a part of American cultural history. The first-year, 6-cylinder superbike was specially delivered to Knievel's hometown bar in Butte Montana by Slack's Honda, and it features modifications made by Evel Knievel Experimental Research Inc. Honda shocked the world with its CBX Super Sport. With six pistons, dual chain-driven overhead camshafts, and 24 valves, the 1000cc engine produced 105 HP and made the CBX the most powerful production motorcycle of its time.

Evel Knievel's association with Honda stretches back to the summer of 1965. Knievel had recently moved with his family to Moses Lake, Washington, and opened a Honda dealership. In an effort to drum up sales, Knievel came up with a plan to jump over a couple of cougars and a bunch of rattlesnakes. The crowd watched Knievel rev up his Honda Scrambler, hit the jump ramp, and crashed short of the landing, flipping over the box of rattlesnakes. Undeterred, he got back onto the Honda, rode to the top of the ramp, and waved to the crowd that the snakes hadn't chased away. They wanted more, and Knievel formed his first stunt show shortly thereafter.

The Honda wears red paint and 1979-only, silver-finish, lightweight, five-spoke Comstar wheels, and its serial number that indicates the CBX is No. 449 of approximately 24,000 1979 models produced. Custom 6-into-6 megaphone exhaust delivers signature 6-cylinder sound in chrome-plated style, and a raised white-letter Goodyear Eagle HST rear tire is believed to be Evel's choice. The custom king and queen seat was returned to stock, and a hole in the rear cowl used by Evel hauling golf clubs was repaired and repainted. The CBX comes with its factory owner's manual with handwritten maintenance records and a copy of the original Evel Knievel Experimental Research Inc. title.
