A couple V12s

Post by Jeff Bennetts »

Spent Father’s Day at the Stan Hywet Car Show, Pierce Arrow and Packard V12s and 400 more beautiful automobiles, saw a CBX and met the owner Paul, nice fellow!

Cool, Jeff. V-12 Packards and I-6 CBX -- definitely kindred spirits.

Nice to be at a show like that where you can up close to the vehicles.
Been to many where the high end cars and bikes are roped off.

The other fun aspect is talking to the owners of these beautiful machines, you can imagine that these fine automobiles and bikes are like family to most of the owners and they are very proud of them, as they should be and it doesn’t take much to prompt into an interesting anecdote about them.

I took over 50 pictures but the board won’t let me attach any more or I would.

Haven't been to show since before the pandemic. The last one the mrs was admiring a Jaguar xke v12, I reminded her she could've had one twice but wouldn't let me make the buy, that was back when I could afford one. She was absolutely thrilled when the owner of the xke overheard us invited her to sit in it and even started it up for her, of coarse I wasn't extended the same invitation :violin: .

yeah it was immaculate, my dream care since I was little kid.

My last brush with the XKE dream was at an auction 20 years ago I nearly bought a project that had a frozen 4.2e engine, no problem I thought I'd put a V6 toyota or small block chev in it. I pulled out when the price went past 3K worried what the mrs would say if it came home with me, it sold for $6K. I woke up the other day thinking about what I'd missed out back then, other than the engine it was in good condition.

Could've, would've, should've but didn't sums up my history with XKEs :(

I have V6 Toyota on stand by.
