Richard Pleines

Post by CBXTRA6 »

Just got sad news from Dale Seymour tonight . Richard passed away today , victim of a massive stroke and in spite of heavy surgery at Yale Medical Center. :(
All who knew Rich and Cathy will remember what a fun loving couple they were together , along with the bunch of New England CBX owners, Neil Nepiarsky , Kevin Sheard,
and of course Tim Ware who brought all of us together a various rallyes in the Northeast in the mid nineties, and afterwards in Marlinton.
Rich had done beautiful upgrades to his Pro Link, as most of the New England owners did. He was always available to share his knowledge and help out newcomers, active on both
CBX main websites, ICOA and CBXWORLD.
My understanding is that there will be a service near his home in Connecticut on Saturday April 20th. Once I have more details or adress where to send mail to Cathy, I'll pass it along.

Until then, keep Rich in your prayers, he was a good man and will be missed for sure.

I first met Rich at St. Clairesville in 1993? Saw him a few times after that. He was always cordial and helpful. And yes, his bike was pretty dang cool too. He will be missed.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Such sad news! Rich was a great guy and a valued member of the CBX community. Got to see him at a VJMC/CBX rally in NY 2 years ago. He will be missed.

Just recently i was looking on-line for a solution to a carb problem that a buddy was having with his Yamaha FJ.
The best info i came across was from an FJ owners site that was posted by Rich.
It was easy to recognize the head shot with a big doughnut stuck in his mouth that he was using for an avatar. haha.

His passion for the CBX and associated people is clearly evidenced in his fondness for this little story from Pete Ahrens.

Condolences to his family.

You can find Rich obituary there:
New Haven (Connecticut) Register
Service is in Hamden CT next Saturday.

Rich was not even 70... Enjoy life and ride the hell
out of your bikes, ya never know when your
number is up.
Now, I’ll pour myself a real drink and toast to Rich.
RIP Buddy.

Oh man. Speechless. Rich was a sweetheart, and a stand-up guy, and just great to share this sport with. I am so sad to learn this. RIP my friend, and many thanks for your friendship.

:text-goodpost: Nils,
I met Rich back in 93 at the St. Clairsville National Rally, actually I met just about everyone that rally because it was my first CBX Rally experience. Rich was one of those people who never met a stranger, he was always in the mix and just loved to be around people. He was an early organizer of local rallies in the New England area and just enjoyed bringing people together that enjoyed riding their CBX's. As the North East Regional Dir., I was lucky enough to work with Rich over the years and we developed a CBX friendship that lasted all this time, the CBX community has lost a good one.

God bless Rich and his family.

Jeff
