Quick Ride Yesterday

Post by gandalf_025 »

Well, in keeping with my attempt to take the dinosaur out at least once every month this year,
yesterday I fired it up and took a quick spin around the neighborhood.
If I manage to put 100 miles a year, on it, I'd be surprised.. But last Jan., we had a very rare semi warm day
and I saw a few sports bikes out which provoked me to start the old girl and take quick ride..
Same thing happened in Feb. So I figured I had something going here... To this point, I'm 8 months for 8.
Funny thing is this bike has NEVER been out before April in it's life. Interesting it took almost 40 years for
this milestone to be this close... Hopefully I'll get the whole year....
We will see....

I hope you have another bike you are riding besides the CBX?

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

No, I have enough vehicles I don’t drive that cost plenty to register, Insure,
Get Inspected and maintain.... Last thing I need is more than 5 cars and the
Bike... What I have is bad enough...

A picture for every month's ride and a small description... Sounds like a nice article for the CBXPress! Hope you go 12 for 12!!

Well, yesterday I fired up the bike and took a ride around the neighborhood.. Was pretty cold, but the sun was out at least.
Only a few miles covered, but it does make it at least a ride a month for 11 months.. Just one more month needed to finish the year... Figure it would be a good way to start it's 40th year.... Damn, we both are getting too old for this..
But I do like the fact the Pipemasters twist up the neighbors..... Payback for them renting their houses weekly during the Summer for 2000.00+ a week via Airbnb and leaving us to deal with the idiot renters while the owners go somewhere else to sleep uninterrupted....

As i said earlier enough other vehicles to deal with that all require time and cash to maintain and keep legal..
CBX will need both time and cash before I would drive it far, short rides around the area in summer months
works ...... I hate riding in the cold or rain.. Got over that years ago...
I have a car I haven't driven in 32 years.... As it sits, apart... it isn't bothering anyone and requires nothing.
If back together it would be another thing to have to deal with, maintain, repair, register, insure and get inspected..
Then worry about bad gas fouling the carbs and on and on...
4 other cars are plenty for me.....and as long as the bike runs, it will go out on a rare nice day for a short ride..
If it stops running, it will go into VERY long term storage and be someone else's problem some day..

Dec. 15th already..
Supposed to be cold and rainy today.
Instead it was sunny and fairly mild for
Massachusetts this time of year..
Took the opportunity to get my December
Ride done and finish my year of taking the bike out
for at least a short ride once a month ...
No jacket or gloves necessary for a quick ride...

I've never ridden in Dec... 8c this past week and the roads are ice free so I could've gone out, I've seen a few bikes out there and heard a few sport bikes in the distance tearing up the freeway...I was tempted but then I'd have to drain the carbs again so I left it in the garage...in 2-3 months spring will be here and I'll be out there putting on 50-100K per day :D ...I can't imagine only 100 mile per year :?
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage

Finally had a measurable amount of snow today in coastal Massachusetts....
On Jan. 20th. Up to this point, bare ground...
I did manage a quick ride Jan. 1st. Just in case I decide to to try
for another year of monthly rides... I think that is pretty optimistic .....
I’d post a picture of Jan. 1st, but it would look pretty much
the same as the Dec. Ride.... Same fake snowman behind it..

I’m sure the neighbors really appreciate the Pipemasters sound..

Did I ever mention I hate winter....

Today was unseasonably warm.....
Took the opportunity to drag the bike out for another quick
ride around the neighborhood.. So, this makes 14 months
with a ride a month.....
