Re: Best 6 to 1 exhaust system for a 79 Z ?
Aris:
Besides Jeff's excellent info on the Bassani replica (they were among the best 6-1 pipes made), D&D from Texas made an excellent 6-1 pipe. Smallish diameter headers with a really nice-sounding stainless can and made great power everywhere. Not a lot were made, but you see them every so often. Perhaps someone has one that the other pipe guy mentioned here from Texas could copy?

Re: Best 6 to 1 exhaust system for a 79 Z ?
Dave:
In the end, and after much consideration, I decided to go for the Delkevic 6 into 2 original exhaust replica.
In fact, it is about to be delivered to my home in Greece, having travelled all the way from the UK (and presumably to the UK from China).
Who knows, later on, as funds permit, I might try another, less conventional exhaust system.
Thanks for all your great help!
Aris

I contacted D&D fingers crossed hoping they might make the 6-1 for the CBX again but they were not interested in doing so.
To bad as they sounded killer.

Unfortunately they are making money hand over fist doing a few bends of a pipe and selling them as fast as they can for cruisers.
Why take time to do a 6-1 with LOTS of bends and work when you can do so little and make so many $$$ doing the cruiser pipes??
Can't say I blame them but wish they had a different perspective.
On the Bassani replicas in Stainless Steel.
Main issue was company does not ship to the USA EXCEPT by air freight. Add about $700 PER PIPE to get it here that way. Makes it a $1500 pipe. Not too many buyers at that price point.

That Souht African pipe looks kind of like the old 'Dicks Cycle West' unit with the crossover pipe and the muffler looks nice. I have 3 D&D pipes, an X-pipe and a DG in my collection.

Has anybody ever weighed a complete stock system for a '79 vs., say, a D&G 6-1 like mine?? I'm willing to bet that there is a significant difference. I put a full Ti Yosh system on my Hayabusa and saved 32 lbs!!!! Apples and oranges somewhat, but I still believe there is a big weight savings on the CBX. I could easily feel the HANDLING difference on the 'Bus.

Here is a pic of the Marshall 6 into 1 that I mounted on my 79.
Hands down the Dencos are my favorite , the Kerkers were nice but the Marshall's will stay on the bike for now.
The Marshall's are quiet, sound good when on the gas and keeps peace in the nieghborhood.

They look familiar, Mike. Although your bike looks a LOT better.
I ran them with stock jetting and air filter and was happy with the performance.

They are Very Nice Steve.
I am like you, running stock air filter and jetting and I am at 5400 feet.
Thanks Again for the nice pipes. The Denco's I am having a metal worker smooth out and then looking at having them rechromed and the headers ceramic lined...costly but the pipes are in such great shape I hate to half ass them.

Re: Best 6 to 1 exhaust system for a 79 Z ?
I can't seem to find any 6-1 exhausts for sale, beside dg performance. Motogp werks has a nice system but will only make them if there was more of a demand for them. I've spent many hours looking for a 6-1 but am having no luck. Any suggestions help
Thanks,
Storm

How deep are your pockets?
This one is ONLY $2750.00ish

There was someone on the 1100F site that was trying to round up Motowerks buyers.

You might try checking in with Louis or Bill Brint at Tim's.
They generally both have new and used pipes.
