1979 CBX - Candy Glory Red Restoration (PIC HEAVY)

Post by surftalks »

I finished the complete frame off restoration/engine overhaul of the 1979 CBX I bought this past summer. This was the bike that was originally from Canada, the owner reportedly had sent the engine to "Pops" Yoshimura back in the early 80's. The bike had been sitting around for 21 years without being ridden and had accumulated quite a bit of rust. Original color was Silver. It was missing some items as well, most of which were located by Louis (many thanks to Louis for his NOS and near NOS parts). The polished aluminum items were polished to a brighter finish than stock and a few were chromed via Bill Brint at Tim's. Carbs rebuild with Oldschoolcarbs master kit.

The bike can be seen at the International Motorcycle Show in Cleveland Ohio (January 29-31) at the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club booth.

Here's a bit of info on the bike.

Nice job, Craig! I can add something to the history, in case you do not know this. Ownership of the bike at one time was claimed by Tony DePalma from Marietta, Georgia

I bought it from Tony. He picked it up in Canada, brought it to Georgia. Tony was the original owner, I'm the second owner.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Craig, it was nice talking to you at the show. Your CBX turned out A1! It was a worthy representative of the CBX line on the VJMC display!

The bike looks great in the pictures and even better in person! How did you do in the voting? You received 4 from my group.

IMS show in Cleveland went great. Nice meeting Mike (EMS) and Greg (GAK1047). I won the Judges trophy for Best Japanese Vintage Motorcycle 25 years or older.
