Adjustment screw nut thread pitch

Post by mults14 »

Hi all, I am very excited to have started my cbx for the first time and started to fiddle with the carb adjustment screws. In my inexperience I backed the nut out all the way and of course lost it. I have spent a couple of days looking for it. But have finally resigned to the fact that I will need to replace it. I found a m5 x 0.8 but it won't thread in which leads me to believe it has a 0.9 pitch. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,

Neil

Can't say for sure, but troll a magnet around under the carbs in all the nooks and you'll likely pick up the wayward nut.

Or clean a space in the garage and use a long reach blow gun, turn the regulator down on your compressor so if you dislodge it, it doesn't end up halfway across your garage.

Maybe you'll luck out like I did today, I replace all the rocker arms and pivots on my wife's jeep today, I was checking for TDC on a cylinder with a long 1/4 in extension and dropped it down the spark plug hole :o lucky for me it was just a puss hair from the bottom of the spark plug threads in the head and didn't fall into the cylinder and out of site.

It's a super fine thread. I have a nut if you need one.

Hi, Neil,

If it is a 5mm thread, you likely looking at a 0.5 pitch.

Well I drug a magnet between carbs 5&6 with no luck, I also built a little containment tent around the carbs and tried to blow it out with no luck. Mike can I take you up on your offer?

It might be between the fins of the cylinder. Try blowing up through them from the front. Also drag the magnet over the top of the crankcase - there are several places there for the nut to hide. I'm sure you'll find it.

Gotta ask, what you are doing disassembling your sync mechanisms on the bike? We are talking the sync screw locknut, right? Send me a SASE. Email me at mikenixon [at] earthlink [dot] net for the address.
