Moto GP

Post by Tom Neimeyer »

Hello All,

I just wanted to say Hello and share a new experience. I needed to rotate out of the Kingdom for a few days, since I had to go someplace, I took the opportunity to take a weekend trip to Doha and attend the Moto GP Season opener at the Losail Circuit. It is my first GP and while the track is not one of the better venues, it has been a good experience so far. I may try to attend another somewhere in Europe later this year or next year.

I hope to attend the Isle of Man TT next year but I.m not sure how to make all the arrangements, I need to do a few searches, read some old threads and see how the guys that went a few years did it.

Cheers, Tom

Tom, I'll wager that if you 'talked' to Mel Watkins (cbxmel), he could guide you to the Isle.

Tom:

Good to hear you are doing well. If you give Jan a shout, he has lots of connections for attending the TT. I'm sure with enough advance notice, he could fix you up.

Tom,

It's been a few years, but the last time I went to the IOM, it was on short notice. I called the IOM Visitor's bureau.
They were able to get me a nice room in Port Erin. It had been a cancellation.
When the time comes, give them a call.

Tom, That is good advice from Will. If I can be of any help let me know as I have few cbx & VJMC friends in the Isle of Man and also know the retired TT Chief Marshall Alan(Kipper) Killip who was the guy who rode the cbx1000 around the Isle of Man for the first time in June 1978. pm or email me and I will try and help.

I won't spoil it for you but I really enjoyed the race! My guy didn't win but it's a long season. Some good racing in the 6-9 spots. The Rossi fans were great to watch, he had the biggest following followed by Stoner and Lorenzo.

I guess I can cross another item off my "bucket" list, actually two, a Moto GP race and a trip to Doha Qatar. I will make a separate post about Doha.

Cheers, Tom
