Post by sneck »

Hi Guys

I am in the process of changing the oil on a 79 z, I have removed the sump plate and I want to remove the oil strainer to give it a clean, how do I remove the oil strainer I cant seam to see what holds it in place.

The strainer is held to the suction pipe by a slotted rubber ring, most likely very hard and brittle by now. Mine broke into pieces when I tried to remove it, wound up buying a new strainer with nice, pliable rubber ring that slipped over the suction pipe flange easily.

Use a heatgun to warm up the rubber. It will make it plieable enough to remove it.
