Head identification #

Post by steve murdoch icoa #5322 »

A head i recently acquired had a number stamped on the bottom, left, rear.
Would it be an i.d. to match the cases?
The two other heads i have seen did not have any stamped numbers.
Just curious.

In order to match either an engine or frame serial number, there is one digit too much. Maybe some place that did some head work put these numbers on it to identify a project or work order :? :?

I think Mike is right, either a shop or a PO did the stamping.
