:D :D Having spare parts makes it easier, Steve. An unfair advantage of being a hoarder, maybe!
Although it took me a while to find it  My parts department is curently not that easy to navigate....

Steve - That is what happens when you ride them!

Mike - I volunteer to inventory and sort your parts department. (Not responsible for drool stains on parts!)

Kent - Great build thread.

o.k. guys

here we go. i am getting CLOSE to bolting things up now so all the little nit-picky questions are going to start. here's where we're at so far just to catch you up. pretty much everything is back on the frame less tins. rebuilt all the calipers and master cylinders and installed the spiegler lines (2 line set-up in the front). all filled with fluid and bled, had one drip on right front caliper. turns out slight turn on banjo bolt to seat crush washer did it. striped out my SOMEWHAT rusty and previously "kreemed" tank with the por-15 HD tank kit and it looks great, very impressed with this product. bill from "tims" set me up with the decals i needed, among other stuff so my painter is going to "paint" the stripes and use stock decals where he cant replicate. have the suzuki 8" headlight i am going to run as i am going naked on this bike, for now. over the Christmas holidays i was watching a set of stock pipes from a zero mile bike on e-bay. for fun with about 5 mins to go i thru in a bid of 600 bucks for the set thinking there was NO WAY i would get them, guess what, i got them (wifes not to happy). here is the first thing i need your help with. can anyone advise a practical or the best way to install these pipes? what with fitting the crossover together then the #2 and #5 cylinder pipes it looks like you have a large mess of chrome to try and fit into place (without scratching it or the head up to much). the manual just says "remove" or "replace" the exhaust system????? do you do one side at a time and try to make everything fit together or do you assemble everything off the bike and try to fit it into place or what? any practical tips here would really be appreciated. next, there was a little "clip" type of thing on the front seem of the gas tank? i think it is originally covered in rubber. what is it and what does it do if anything? i may need 2 more once my tanks painted. as of right now once my tins are back and the exhaust is hung the last thing i need before i can actual ride this thing (which i have not done yet since buying it) is the new chain and sprockets, and a dry day. i know everyone likes pics with the posts so i have included one here but it really doesn't show much progress to the eye unless you look really close and see the new brake lines and freshly rebuilt calipers etc. the main thing is the temporarily hung right side exhaust. although, i am embarrassed to show a pic of my project after seeing mikes pics of the travesty. that looks AWESOME. like jewellery. nice job mike!

thanks guys! any help on this exhaust situation much appreciated.

Kent:

It's near impossible to mount the Pro-Link system yourself. I've done it, but you really need help. You have to work the crossover together as the pipes are being lifted and set into the head. I've done it a million times and dreaded each one. But nice score on the exhaust!

Dave is right, it is much easier to have help. But not impossible to do it alone. First, you should have a nice padding under the bike to prevent the exhaust from scratching. Lay the pipes under the bike. Lift the front end of one side and fit the header pipes into the ports and secure the exhaust holders slightly without tightening the nuts all the way down. Then fit the other side into the crossover. Watch for the seal. Lift the front end of the other side and loosely connect the holders.
Lift the rear of the exhaust and hang into the bolts. Adjust and align everything and tighten, headers first. Have fun.

Kent -

I feel your pain!

viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4718&hilit=+exhaust

But it can be done. Good luck, and have patience. Mike's directions need to be added to the shop manual.
