Heya Jam, welcome to the site.

Short answer: Yes!

Long answer:

So the answer to your question has a kind-of multi-layered response, and it kind of depends on your intent - no value judgement good or bad about it.

If you're looking to buy or sell a bike, then I'll tell you that they DO pop up here from time to time, but this isn't really a true 'marketplace' for them. Most of the guys here already have one and are maintaining or restoring or modifying it. Quite a few guys here DO have multiple CBXs though, and they change hands now and then. So go ahead and post a 'for sale' but unless it's a bargain, you may be surprised at low interest.

If you're looking to sell parts, it is generally considered good form to not try to use the site as an auction site. Go ahead and ask what you ask, but sell to the guy that asks first. Asking for offers is kind-of frowned upon. It's not like it doesn't happen, but it's pretty easy to judge the market value by completed auctions on eBay and base an asking price on that.

If you need parts for a build, then the truth of the matter is that they are here, and many of these guys have caches of parts of varying sizes, but will rarely post them for sale. If you make friends, and contribute content to the site, and get folks engaged in your project, you will be pleasantly surprised at the help that comes out of the woodwork. My own bike is adorned with parts from several guys' caches, sold for what they paid (in some cases years ago) or even given. This is a great group that is very generous to community members.

But in terms of a true marketplace, that, unfortunately, is eBay, and the prices there are semi-ridiculous. Louis Mintrone has many many parts and he sells them in many cases for far less than they get auctioned for at eBay. Check him out at usedcbxparts.com

Hope that was at least a little useful, and again, welcome!

Grey-haired bikers don't get that way from pure luck.

Sorry to hear you need to sell. On the '81 - depends on whether it is a 'school bike' or not. A genuine, for-sale-to-the-public, zero mile '81, while not worth what it was a few years ago, is still worth five figures. Low five figures, but still there. But you never know what an eBay auction will bring. Give it a try. As Nils said, here is not the place to get top dollar for bikes and parts, usually. We can spread the word, however, if you let us know just what all you have for sale. Very nice parts will bring good money on eBay. Good luck!

Dave
