Carb leak - cracked stand pipe?

Post by ajs350 »

Just finnished overhauling my 79x carbs and put them on a leak test only to find #6 dripping away. Took the bowl off, filled it with fuel and with the drain screw tight it is dripping. How do I fix what seems like a leak past the brass stand pipe and the bowl casting. A layer of JB weld perhaps?

Thanks for the solution. I found the crack as you can see from the photo, soldered it up and no more leak! :D

That looks just like the ones I have done. That tube is very thin. Glad you solved your mystery.
