Need a stupid favor: Measure an early model shock for me

Post by Noblehops »

Hola,

I've got a small favor to ask, due to a dilemma I find myself in. I had a pair of custom shocks made up and unfortunately the company did not get the dimensions correct. The spring body is way too low and it is fouling the sprocket and chainguard on my '80 restoration.

I stupidly pitched my crappy old shocks when these came in, and now I have no reference to give the vendor.

Would some kind soul please measure any '80 shock and give me the dimensions? Mostly I need the distance between the clevis and the bottom of the spring cup, and possibly the distance from the eyelet and the spring top. The OD of the spring would be helpful too.

THANK YOU in advance.

These are from a 79 US model shock. I don't have the 80 adjustables:

Center of hole in clevis to bottom of spring (lowest preload setting) 85mm
Center of top mount hole to top of spring 27mm - this one will be different for the 80 shock as it has the adjustment in the top
Spring OD 50mm

A belated "Thank you very much" EMS, much appreciated. These dimensions were exactly what I needed in the end.

Best,

Nils
