We're Going Racing....!

Post by Ringnalda »

Exactly 12 days ago we pulled a frame out of my garage, and evaluated the title of this post. Image
We then pulled together a bunch of sweepings from all corners of my garage and put together "Sweeping's" the racing CBX. A daunting project? Sure, but Geoff explains he'd rather race Sweeping's than the motorised bar stool that was the other option...
Image
We think it looks pretty functional!

And the SOUND will be GREAT!!!

If it runs and handles half as good as it looks, it'll do well.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Sweeping's runs!

Just a short teaser... To hear this bike in full song you will have to be at Mid-Ohio next weekend: July 24-26th 2009. Bring ear protection!

See you there, Jan

Excellent job, Jan and Geof! Looking forward to seeing you next week.

Caution!! I am not sure about the WERA rules, but AHRMA requires a belly pan on the bike as an oil catch device. This has always been a problem with ground clearance for the CBX. That's one of the reasons Dr Tom raised the engine in the frame in his CBX racer. You may want to confirm if or not you need one.

I think I saw an aluminum roasting pan used before.

Turkey Pan

Post by Ringnalda »

Yep Turkey pan is already moulded in shape on Sweeping's... Just need to find some flame retardant, absorbing material...

Sweeping's in practice

Post by Ringnalda »

Troublesome gas caps today; they do not vent enough for a race bike. Once we sorted out fuel delivery system; she kept running on six cylinders. All in all a very productive, tiring, and also in the end enjoyable day. Met lots of CBX'ers at Mid Ohio. The atmosphere is great; Now for qualifying...

One short video of Sweeping's in action:

And the results so far?

Racing today hampered by rain. Lots of people DNF. However Sweeping's was brought home safe and sound by Geoff.

Oh and I almost forgot:

THIRD PLACE !!!!!

Dry tomorrow,
