Bummer! Speedo failure

Post by Lloyd »

My 1979 speedometer needle fell off Saturday. Its rattling around in the bottom. My trip ometer was already broken (previous owner installed too large a bulb and it melted).

Anyone know a source where I can find one?

speedo

Post by SS »

LLoyd, first mortgage your home :( , then you may have enough cash to get a replacement speedo :D .

Check the IOCA Clubs want ads area, Tim's bulletin board try placing a want ad on booth these areas, and lastly Eeeepay, oops 8) I mean Ebay. The bidding seems to often get out of hand on Ebay items.

Also there are some great members in the IOCA that will help out with spare parts on occasion. good luck

BTW: Tim's site has been down a couple of day, but I'm sure they'll get it up, and running again soon. And I forgot to mention CBX Supersport, another good resource for parts & bikes

It happened to both my speedo & tach. Not being as rich as you other folk I "fixed" them.

I cut a brass paper clip to the appropriate length, hammered one end a little flatter & painted it white, then glued the other end to the piece of the old needle still on the drive pin. By the way, don't try to glue the old needle back on, it'll just break again.

No one's noticed yet. I think the only thing people see when they look at the instruments is the upper limits of both!

Any way, that's my story so good luck whichever way you go.
