*** Need Help Identifying Muffler ***

Post by tgraytn »

I just removed the exhaust from my 1979 CBX to clean it. I noticed that the following information is listed on it:

HMMA2 A

SANKEI 2082

Is this the factory exhaust?

Thanks!

Tom

That would be an '81-'82 exhaust you have there. It has the crossover tube and the centerstand doesn't hit the rubber bumper on the pipe. Otherwise, it will work fine.

Thanks Dave for your reply. Does anyone offer a reproduction of the original 1979 style exhaust? If so, who and how much?

Larry, any more information available? They are probably out of my range, but I would still like to know more about them.

hey guys

i just received a set of sankei's that i bought off e-bay. overall very happy with them however i just want to confirm a couple things, i was told they were ORIGINAL pipes. could someone just confirm for me if this is the case? the numbers on the pipe are as follows:

SANKEI 2082
HMMA2 A

also, when i received them the left side bracket for the rear of the pipes that mount to the side plate is MISSING! anybody have any ideas where a guy might find one of those? otherwise very happy, guy said it came off a zero mile bike. i wouldn't say they are ZERO mile pipes but they are very nice shape.

thanks!

Those are original '81-'82 pipes. Mounting brackets show up often on eBay. Someone here might have an extra also.
