Original seat for 1980 model

Post by oroepke »

Howdy? My bike came with a Corbin seat, I would like to get an original seat to put on, but not sure what the original pattern is. I basically found 3 different kinds on ebay, con someone enlighten me which one is original to my bike? According to the brochure I saw on ebay, it seems to be the first one, is that correct? Thanks.

The first one is the original factory pattern for 79 and 80. The second one is a Prolink seat and the third one is an aftermarket seat cover.
Later Honda original replacement seats for 79 and 80 had a different pattern. If you would find an original NOS Honda seat, it will probably not look like any of the patterns shown but closer to the third photo with the stitched panels crosswise on the seat. Some claim that the later pattern was actually used towards the end on the 1980 US bikes. I bought several seats from Honda when they were still available and they did not have the early 79 pattern.

You are welcome, Olaf! I am in Sebring right now for the WEC 1000 mls and the IMSA 12 hr races. When I return home, I will send a picture of the seat with the latest Honda pattern.
