Change in Saluda Rally

CBX Clubmembers,

At this late date, I regreat to have to enform you we need
to make a change of plans concerning lodging. This concerns Saluda
Mountain Lodge. To recap there was a murder there in the spring. This
is a family run business run by a family for a 3rd party. The
manager's dauther was staying at the lodge at the time. She had no
connection with the lodge and had a real estate business in
Hendersonville, but; it was her father and brother aand sister that ran
the lodge. She was killed by her husband at the lodge. The family
has decided it no longer wanted to manage the lodge because of memories
connected to the place. New management had not been found as of
5/23/11. They enformed me Monday morning that they would not be able
to honor our reservations. Carl Mintz the former manager said to send
his regrets and apologized for any inconvenience.
The place i would reccommend that we change to is Quality Inn
Suites in Hendersonville, NC, exit 49. This place has a fantastic lobby
with an indoor swimming pool and various fountains. I stayed there in
March and it is very nice. They have more room for parking and offer
a continental breakfast. Those that I sent maps already have a map of
the location. It's on the Henderssonville map on Friday's ride,
located on Sugar Loaf Road. Another plus is the cheaper rooms start
about $10.00 less than Saluda Mountain Lodge. The number is
1-828-692-7231. This will change our routing on the trips, but; I am
certain we can wing it.
There are 3 more motels at that exit and they are as
folllows with there numbers. Hampton Inn 1-828-697-2333, Ramada Inn
1-828-697-0006, and Best Western 1-828-692-0521. The only one I would
sugest that you skip is Hampton Inn. There quote was about $40.00
higher than Quality Inn. The other two were somewhat competive with
Quality Inn.
I also apologize for the inconvenience, but I hope you
realize I could not have forseen this string of events. If anyone
