First ride in a couple years.

Post by steve murdoch icoa #5322 »

I am still messing with the fried electrics on my naked '81 so i dusted off the '79 for the first time in a couple years.
It has a couple warts but i had forgot how much fun it is to ride.
I had also forgot how much attention a red '79 seems to attract.

Steve: Looking good! Wire wheels are also a real eye-catcher.

Ditto on the wheels and the pipes, Steve. Those will be eye-catchers anywhere/everywhere. Nice day, too, eh!

Those wire wheels get me EVERY TIME.

I LOVE this bike Steve, it is one of my favorite CBXen.

I am amazed, Steve, that you had no problems getting this on the road running after parking it for a long time. What did you do, to preserve it?

Always liked the look of spokes.
Got a 150/70-18 BT45 on the rear which is 3.5"and a 110/90-18 BT45 on the front which is 2.75".
It has a GS1100 swingarm and i just recently acquired a decent chrome chainguard from an '80 GS.
The brackets will need some quality time with a hammer.

Ha, i wouldn't say no problems. I think the carbs will be coming off tomorrow.
It ran great for a couple tanks of gas but was acting up today. Going to look for a cracked coil as well.

It is so much easier to muscle this one around with the Superbike bars and fork bracket from Rick Pope than the Tomaselli clip-ons on the '81.

Thanks for the kind words, Gents.

Guys, I think "TIMS" will still do up spoke rims for the CBX. I almost went for some a couple of years back but backed off due to cost.( customs, shipping etc. etc.) I'd like to know what brake rotors are those off of? Or are they just a custom drill pattern on stock rotors?

Great looking bike, Steve -- but shame on you for letting it sit for two years!

Love it.

It's funny how you can know in your brain how good something is, but your heart can forget until you're reunited. :)
