Call for interest: New repro Prolink bushings/collar set
Greetings,
This is still in the exploratory stage, but Larry Zimmer has super-graciously volunteered to spearhead the design and manufacture of new replacement bushings and collars for the 81 and 82 Prolink CBX rear suspension linkage. (Parts # 17 and 18 on this page: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbx1000c-sup ... ml#results) And, parts # 21 and 22 on this page: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbx1000c-sup ... ml#results
As you may be aware these are now NLA from Honda, and the secondary sellers like CMSNL and David Silver Spares are getting a premium for these, when they are available.
What Larry is developing will likely be made of Oillite bronze (self-lubricating to some degree), and the collar may have a grease-retaining groove machined in it - that is still being researched.
This will be done on a 'what they cost' basis, like the other group buys I have coordinated in the past. It will probably take at least a couple of months before we had them in hand, once we had made the determination to go forward.
So two questions to answer please:
Are you interested?
And if so, how many sets do you think you would want?
This is not binding, yet, but just a 'should we bother' sanity check. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD, to other CBXers that you know that don't use either of the forums, or the Brewer list.
You may simply reply here, or PM me, or send an email to me at nils.menten@gmail.com
Best,
N.

I would be interested in one set. I am a poor guy with only one CBX but fortunately it is a 1981.

Hey, is anybody reading this on the Brewer list? And if so, would you please copy my post into an email and post it on that list for me, and let me know you did?
Thanks,
N.

Re: Call for interest: New repro Prolink bushings/collar set
I haven't researched it, but if either of the two different bushings / collars are the same as in other monoshock Honda's (or for that matter ANY other make), somebody with contacts in those communities could spread the word there to possibly get more on the bandwagon. I was thinking like the CX / GL 650's or similar.
