made small carb ajustment tool

Post by neilx7 »

tried to sync my carbs last weekend with no joy, needed a small adjustment tool for the 5-6 adjuster,
looked about on inter web could only find one for about £50 ($80) but i could get a large type adjuster for £10 ($16) big difference in cost there.
so i orded the larger adjuster and set about copping it to make a smaller one, see results below took about 30 mins to do.
did a quick test seem to work ok,so will try sync again next time i have a day free.

Nice job! As they say in the classics, "necessity is the mother of invention"

So good to have the right tool for the job and remove for ever the risk of munging up that 5/6 adjuster.

I managed to pick up a "Shorty" recently, but am yet to use it.

A few months ago, I ordered the shorty from Honda. It had to come from Japan, so it took a few weeks. It didn't cost much: $30 US. The advantage of making your own is you can fabricate exactly what you want and save some cash.

I brazed an old 6 point socket onto a 12 inch piece of car brake line and cut a small screwdriver in half and brazed a 3/32nd welding rod in between to make it long enough and half an hour and $5 later I had the tool made. It`s not chrome plated but I don`t have it hanging in the dinning room. lol.
