Looks great, Spencer.
11 years for the Yuasa is above and beyond. You sure must looked after it.

I rode it back to the shop for a bit of follow-up. Tach is noisy/bouncy above 4k and speedo isn't getting signal from the sender.

It was about 5C this morning, but even with the cold and the couple of issues with the bike, it was very hard to stop at the shop and then board the subway to come into the stupid office. Every minute that goes by it looks like better and better riding weather out there!

Not today, but in late March, facilitated Vince & Hyde Racing from New Zealand to come across on the 3 hr flight to Sydney Australia to compete in the 2015 Barry Sheene Festival of Speed, held at Eastern Creek in Western Sydney.

From right to left Mike (tyres & fueling), Yours Truly (facilities management & transportation), Brent (aka Captain elsewhere, Spannerman par excellence!), Leigh (electrickery), Vince (our fast pedaller), and Emily his daughter.

Our team achieved a very credible 2nd overall in the Period 5 Pre 1982 bikes behind Australian Malcolm Campbell, also Honda mounted.

Took Cybil, my CBX out with intent to ride in the Honda only Parade Lap led by none other than Fast Freddie Spencer, the Guest of Honour down under, but things just got busy in the pits so it didn't happen. Still, I hope she had "a wee chat with "The Torbay Hot Rod" "CB1100F Superbike and learnt a few go fast tips! Ab Fab weekend on so many levels.

Thanks for the pics, Tony.
Too bad about missing the parade lap.

Tony's March was a lot better than mine!

I would have a very hard time choosing between being prepared for a race vs. getting to do a parade lap led by Fast Freddie - but I also would have zero hope of a 2nd place finish. ;)

Very cool Tony !! That was a really strong showing in a very rough class.
If all the stars align, I will be seeing Brent next week :-)

Yes, it lasted a long time. It was usually plugged into a battery tender when not being used. Actually, the cells were still very good. It spun over just like when it was new. Then, after adjusting valve clearances, I decided to just turn the engine over with the starter. I turned the power on, and all the lights lit. The moment I hit the starter button, I heard a little pop, coming from the vicinity of the battery. Everything went dark. I measured 12.3 volts across the battery's terminals, but as soon as I put the slightest load on it, the voltage fell to near zero. I suspect an internal link between cells gave up. I was hoping to set a record for battery life, when it failed. I don't know if anyone else has had a battery last longer than 11 years. I replaced it with an identical Yuasa.

The factory battery in my Rune is 10 years old. The CBX uses the same model, but it's only been in for 2 years. So far, so good. The replacement battery in my DB7 is 15 years old.

I never had a vehicle battery last that long. The longest life for a battery I ever had heard of so far was one of a friend of mine in a BMW GS and it was nine years.
My personal record for batteries were 8 AA Duracells in a MD-2 motordrive for my Nikon F2 which were still good after 15 years... :o :o

I didn't get my shifter bushing installed as it seems that pivot bolt has wear on it.
First I thought that bushings are not right but when I slide bushing over the pivot bolt and move it up and down, it has some play but when I move it side to side It barely moves.
I looked all over for the pivot bolt, does anyone have information as to where it could be found?
Thanks

Don't fret too much about the play in the shifter pivot. They have some play when new. Put the new bushings in - well greased - and enjoy. Get the felts in when they become available.
