I bought new progressive suspension 465 rear shock for my '82 and replaced it last week.
Removed, cleaned and lubed all dog bone bushings and collars and installed new shock. Went this weekend for a ride and it is an amazing improvement in comfort and handling just with default settings.
I would recommend everyone this upgrade. Bought it at jcmotors.com and it was $317 and you can get another 10% on top of that is you are the first time customer.
Next is going to be fine tuning and braided brake lines

There is a write up on the procedure in a past CBXPress, I don't remember what issue and volume it was in though, maybe Dave can recall. You should be able to find it in the online CBXPress database here on the site? if you're a member.

Searched for "countershaft seal". Read the results. Found this.

Who's your buddy?

Search works REALLY WELL on this site, much better than on many other moto forums. Failing that, there is THIS search, http://www.cbxclub.com/search which uses Google to search this site, which also works REALLY WELL.

Thanks for posting the link.

If anyone does this before I get to it, please post pics or a video. If not, I'll try to take and post pics. What do you think the chances are of finding a normal seal of the right dimensions? i.e., a simple push-fit seal like on the output shaft of many automobile transmissions.

Who's your daddy? Neil that's who.

The CBXPress article that the thread Neil refers to did have at least 1 photo included with the procedure, if you still think you need one but the article is well written. The only exception IMHO with the article is the author mentions Hylomar as an acceptable sealant to use, for this I would use something that has a more adhesive property like Hondabond/Yamabond or even 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

This thread is woefully off-track.

This isn't much of an answer to "what did you do to your bike today", but it's all I've got right now:

I called the shop that's wrapping up the machine work for an ETA on getting the rotor adapters anodized, and tentatively booked it for a dyno tune at another shop in a couple of weeks.

Well, then... I raked and fertilized the lawn today, adjusted the tire pressure in my wife's car - the low pressure light had come on and took the wheels off the K16GT to get new tires. Torn between the Michelin Pilot Road and the new Avon Storm 3D . Have to sleep on it.

Hope this isn't too far off the subject, but I thought Hylomar, Hondabond, and Yamabond were pretty much the same thing.

Hylomar is a brand and they manufacture a wide range of sealants. Some are non-hardening some are not. I am sure they have one sealant that is pretty much equivalent to Hondabond or Yamabond.

I am referring to the Universal Blue Hylomar, It's great for dressing case cover gaskets and the like, the next time you remove the cover the gasket will come off intact and not rip, I don't think I'd use it in a situation where there isn't any clamping force holding the two surfaces together.

Since this was the first chance I have had this year, I fired up the CBX, washed it off, pumped up the tyres and took it for its first ride of the year. 8)
It was only a fairly short ride in my locality, just to make sure there were no problems with the bike. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:
I find using a vacuum pump on the fuel shut off valve really helps, it fired within 10 seconds easily.

Cheers

New rear tire, new Yuasa AGM battery, (my 11 year old Yuasa had a sudden death failure) powder coated and rebuilt the front master cylinder, replaced brake fluid, cleaned the chain, adjusted valve clearances, synchronized carburetors, changed the oil, cleaned most of the dirt off, and went for a short first ride of the year.
