Great pictures Mel. I wonder if he still has it and lives in Elk River. Maybe it's abandoned in a barn and needs a new home (mine). I wish.

His name is Greg. Can't remember his last name. He has a brother who rode his silver '79 to that rally, and they trailered the Martin.
The members guide from that era has them listed.
That Martin was the one used for the magazine articles when the bike was first introduced in the US. Greg had a copy of Cycle Guide (?) with him showing the bike.

I did put his full name on each image above Rick. Remember talking to Greg at the rally. Nice bloke. Think I have some pictures of you in my files. Will dig out a few pictures of the rally for your perusal. By pure chance the guy Phil Kortas who came down from Riverview nr Detroit MI with me is staying here with his wife Marylee on vacation. Sends his best to you. He remembers riding the Dragon on a damp road. Very sobering!

Re: Moto martin CBX in Elk River Minnesota
I seem to recall George Dillaway telling me that he loaned Greg Smith his CBX to ride at that rally
because the Martin was having some running issues. I was not looking for Greg Smith until after I had
purchased my Moto Martin from Rod Libby. That is a purchase I do not regret.
Best,
Phil

Well, I didn't say I had a lot of hair, just that I had more than now. Hair is overrated.Jeff Bennetts wrote:May I ask where that hair was? It wasn't on your head, Mel and I have pictures to prove it.Rick Pope wrote:Ahh, the memories. Back when I was faster and had hair.
