"CBX Book II" ... almost finished!!

Post by cbxian »

Hi Guys,

I am now on the 'home straight' with the compilation of "CBX Book II". It is looking good and I think you will enjoy it. It has grown to be the same size as the original BIG red "CBX Book", but has completely different contents except for the CBX History and Model details.

If you have information/photos to submit you need to get it to me NOW, as there are only a few weeks left. I will not be writing another CBX Book, so this is your last chance to find those old CBX photos in your family album ... imagine the waste if you leave those hidden forever, much better that the CBX Community gets to see and enjoy them!!!

Best, IAN

Well done Ian for doing the CBX community such a service with the two books. I look forward to reading number 2. I hope the archive listing of articles,brochures and books I sent you with CBX content were of some use to you? As I have said before if anybody wants a copy of my archive just drop me a line to cbx6meluk@aol.com. Remeber, if you print it out it is now over 40 sheets of A4 so make sure you have plenty of toner in your printer!

All the best Mel 1876

@ZGrand/Spencer,
If you send me an email to ian@netvigator.com I will get you on my List. Jan Ringnalda (ICOA President) and Louis Mintrone (usedcbxparts.com) have again stepped forward to help me distribute the Books. You have no idea how much this helps me with Logistics, and how much it helped you keep Postage costs down!! I thank Jan and Louis again for all they did in for the original "CBX Book" Project and are about to do for "CBX Book II." Books should start arriving in USA in late-May, but depends on Printing, Shipping, etc.

@Mel,
No, I did not receive anything from you?

Hi again CBXers,

I will Post some of the new Book Pages up here in the next couple of weeks, so that you can see the new elements in the "CBX Book II". The new Book is very different from the old Book ... a 'Volume II' rather than a 'Reprint!!' There are only about 20% of pages similar to the original Book, those being the CBX Design, Factory Photos, and introduction of the 4 Models.

The new Chapters include the following ...
- Reproduction of all Honda's Sales Brochures and Adverts (1 page per brochure)
- Old photos of our CBXs when new
- Introductions to CBX Shops and Suppliers around the World
- "CBX Specials" from around the World
- Bibliography of Books and Magazines.

Best Regards, IAN

Hi Phil et al,

Sorry for the delays ... real Work has gotten in the way, we are VERY busy in China (long may it last!!) ... so the Book progress slowed a little. It is almost there, just some final corrections and additions and it will be off to the Printers. I have decided to put a FREE gift at the rear of the Book which I hope comes in useful to folks.

The Books should be in USA by mid-July if all goes to the revised Plan! Jan Ringnalda at ICOA and Louis Mintrone at usedcbxparts.com are helping me distribute the Books in USA/N.America. I imagine for Canadian CBXers wanting a copy of the Book, it will be much cheaper Postage from USA. The Book again in heavy at about 2.5kg.

I am trying to work out the Purchase Price for the Book in USA. In Britain it is the same as last time, but the Exchange Rate makes that a LOT more US$! I am trying to keep Printing/Shipping/etc costs as low as possible for USA Books to keep the Book at a reasonable Price!! It will be definitely MUCH cheaper than buying it on eBay later!!!

Best, IAN

I don't care how long it takes, and I'm not that concerned with how much it costs, I just want to be sure I get in the queue with my order. :)

Incidentally, why try so hard to keep prices down when you can reasonably expect them to go up so much on the secondary market? Why shouldn't you be the one to realize that profit if you're the one doing all of this work?

Hi Phil,

I'm happy to make money from all these Developers/Clients in China (hehehe), but I don't want to make $$$ from my CBX-mates!!! ... this is my 'Hobby Project' so better to have everyone happy with a real bargain!! I just need to get back all the $$$ I'm shoveling out for Printing, Shipping, etc on the Project!

I think the high-priced secondary Market is good for the image of the CBX ... observers will conclude that there must be something very special about that Bike if folks are willing to pay $300 for a Book (hehehe)!?! We don't need convincing that the CBX is VERY special!!!

Cheers, IAN
