Sandcast engine 15 for auction 20th Oct

Post by cbxmel »

Hi Guys,

Just received my catalog for Bonhams http://www.bonhams.com (page 2 scroll down to picture of catalog cover) auction of motorcycles at the forthcoming Stafford show on 20th October. Only two 81 CBX's at vastly different estimates for sale Lots 237 & 356. However, what I find interesting is that Mike Buttinger of CMS Holland fame is selling 100 Japanese motorcyles and has included sandcast CBX engine number 15 as can be seen from the pictures on Bonhams site. However,as the warning by the auctioneers says all is not as it seems as both the head and barrels are off a later diecast engine, number unknown. Nevertheless, perhaps would look good in a museum with correct write up with the display of the engine. Bert from the Sixcentre in Holland tells me he has seen the engine and originally it was owned by Honda Netherlands as a training engine so it seems the trainees have certainly knocked it about a bit! Price estimate $8000 to $9600. Included in the sale are many early Japanese bikes including a 1956 Honda JC 125 cc two stroke. Never heard of that one myself. Hope of interest.
